I'm pretty sure 12x12 is the most known value on the times tables. There's some guy out there who needs to puzzle out 1x1, but 12x12?

Faust "By" is annoying. Multiply by or divided by? By their age they can do either.
Kid Cthulhu Poor Emi
Opus the Poet Turing Test, empirical test of an AI to see if it can be differentiated from a real person. Passing has been next to impossible for current AI, as in I have not heard of any. There are some that can pass within certain subjects but fail miserably if the conversation veers away from those subjects.
Opus the Poet Also think area when the word "by" is used. Two by four, fifty by a hundred, etc.
John To be fair, I've run into a lot of actual humans who I don't think could pass a Turing test.
Multiply Six by Nine The 9 times table is the easiest. 9 times anything less than 10 is: x - 1 = y, y + z = 9, [yz] e.g. 1 - 1 = 0, 0 + 9 = 9, 09 2 - 1 = 1, 1 + 8 = 9, 18 3 - 1 = 2, 2 + 7 = 9, 27 ... 8 - 1 = 7, 7 + 2 = 9, 72 9 - 1 = 8, 8 + 1 = 9, 81 10 - 1 = 9, 9 + 0 = 9, 90 For 11, the much easier 11 table takes precedence. Interestingly enough, the digits of 12 times 9 through to 20 times 9 also add up to 9, while 21 and 22 times nine (like 11 times 9), add up to 18 (double 9), the digits of which in turn add up to 9. This pattern continues...
And Get 42 "anything less than 10" While the above rule still holds true for 10, there's no need to do it for the much more simple 10 times table.
ohwilleke 12 x 12 is gross.
SlugFiller At some point, they'll understand she defines "AI" different than they do. She did say she's completely human. I don't think any part of her was even programmed or designed. Super-strength aside, she's probably just a straight up genetically modified clone. Memnon would be more of a true AI, and could probably do head-math without a second thought. At least enough to break high-level cryptography undetected.
Gene To do 9 Times anything below 10, you stick your hands out in front of you and put down the digit you are timing by and the answer is right there. (ex 4 X 9, there is 3 digits up then a space and then 6 digits up so the answer is 36)
walex «she defines "AI" different than they do. She did say she's completely human. I don't think any part of her was even programmed or designed.» Memnon referred to her "mother" (presumably EOS) on page 412, which page is overall deeply mysterious, except for his determination to avoid the genocide. Note that Memnon and EOS and EMI all have pale green eyes. Our author is weaving a very subtle tale. EMI may be a female clone of Memnon, and Memnon regarded EOS as his "mother".
