Yochanan Why he be saying soccer if he be from Britbongistan?
Tober Australians call the round-ball game soccer because the other types of football are significantly more popular here. Although I hear the soccer associations are trying to change that for some reason. Perhaps they're trying to trick people into attending soccer games.
Rock He should've asked first whether the uniform features a skirt or not... ^^;

AlpineBob @Rock Seems unlikely - Soccer, however you call it, is active enough that shorts are pretty much default for everybody.
Guesticus Yups, football is pretty much the one sport where even girls wear short

Kerilithia I think the girls wear bike shorts to soccer. That still would look strange on a boy.

Maaaaalcom But apparently the Brits came up with the name "soccer". I have no idea how true this is. http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2010/06/the-origin-of-the-word-soccer/

atemu1234 In America, we would have just called it quits and slept in. Granted, that's probably why I am who I am.

Jono Round ball you play by kicking it with your foot is either soccer, football, or kick ball... Egg shaped ball you play by tossing it to other players is either hand-egg or American football... can also be rugby and various other actual sports

LaughingTarget The first American football ball was one imperial foot long. Calling the other game football is more confusing as an entire position is permitted to use the hands and throwing the ball is how the ball is returned to play after going out of bounds. Also, more people in the world call it soccer than they do all the variations of football.
