Our delightful author is weaving a complex tale of multiple timelines, fortunately mostly just Sam's one. Then there is Hyperion on page 387 saying "one more time".
«That's why my Dad killed everyone!"»
That's not quite accurate: Memnon when she was killed in the attack on him retaliated to defend himself but did not kill everyone. He kills everyone because in the second attack on him the USA military destroy his memory of her, pages 405-407.
