Oh boy. a situation that is considered impossible giving us a chance to create a new term. OK so the relation to ones older self: i like the word Broself like "what up my Broself" or "yo Broself whatcha doing" anyone got a better term for it? also (Broself TM)

I would go with brother, that seems like it would work. I don't think sam is old enough to pass as his father anyway.

When someone is an ambiguous relative I tend to go with cousin. Uncle might work also, since it is a title people often given to male friends of the family who are particularly close.
