Because nobody I asked got it: The symbol is for normals. It's a normal mask. Geddit? I'll go kill myself now.

Liz I get it :D
Also, what's with the schooling in Australia? In the States, school starts around August.
Charlie's "Birthday" was September, so usually, to me, he's barely been out of school for about a month and a half really.
I'M SO CONFUSED

Tober Australian school years are aligned with the actual year. It's currently the last few weeks of the third term (of four).

Flancy Well, only some states' school years start in August. Here in Washington state, school starts in September, so if he were in Washington, he'd have missed barely a few days.

Hinoron There are states that start in August? I'd never heard that. Late August or start of the month? If it's a difference of just a few days or a week, I'd say not much different. Canadian school year starts in September 1st; coast to coast, so far as I know. Most East Asian countries start their school year in spring, which makes a certain amount of symbolic sense; new beginnings and whatnot. The September/August beginning school term is reasoned out that the summer break is long enough that expecting students to pick up where they left off 8-10 weeks later is asking quite a lot. Also the observation that students can't think very well when it's hot as hell in their classroom; usually they just fall asleep.

Mightymarkus So it is normal in Australia to wear masks as well as school uniforms? Wow. When did that custom get started?
