Sam would have also accepted "Your royal highness, ruler of the world, who guides us justly and benevolently and can in no way be construed as a tyrant"

Rory Oh boy. a situation that is considered impossible giving us a chance to create a new term.
OK so the relation to ones older self:
i like the word Broself like "what up my Broself" or "yo Broself whatcha doing"
anyone got a better term for it?
also (Broself TM)
Kerilithia I would go with brother, that seems like it would work. I don't think sam is old enough to pass as his father anyway.
Brendan When someone is an ambiguous relative I tend to go with cousin. Uncle might work also, since it is a title people often given to male friends of the family who are particularly close.
JEswe i thinks that it is a conundrum as such SAM will suffice.

Otto There is a heck of a lot of blue on this page.
Guesticus Nah, needs for blue, a group of men in fact ;)
But yeah, "Sam" or "Uncle" should work, most peole wouldn't ask for proof that Sam really _is_ Charlie's biological uncle (and he could always say "have known him his whole life, and the title 'Uncle' just stuck")
Guesticus By the way, don't they have signs on trolleys over the ditch warning about kids hanging onto them?
Tober I don't think trolleys in Australia have warnings like that. But then again, I haven't read a trolley in a long time.
Kerilithia I'm from Australia and I've never seen a sign tell us not to ride on them.
Deof Movestofca Aaaaaaaaaaaagh! It's the dreaded no "next" comic button glitch dreaded by archive divers the world around.
More, more, MORE!!!!!!!!!
Guesticus No warning signs on trolleys? Might explain a few things :P
Rory Wait what about adoption could make a great cover story for strangers and relatives alike- "why did you adopt him" they ask "because he reminds me of a younger me" he answers. it could also explain why he looks like him when he was ten sorta.

VVee @Tober I saw one once. I promptly ignored it, as is the law of trolleys.
